As N47’s COO, I draw upon my mix of prior experiences and oversee our efforts to provide services that help enable the success of our portfolio companies. I also help to partner with and invest in seed-stage funds, and play an active role in firm strategy and internal operations.
My current role is rooted in a diverse set of global experiences and a career spent immersed in consistent technological change. I studied finance and Chinese in college (including studying in China during the 1990s) and worked in Hong Kong through the 1997 handover. After graduate school, with the Internet boom in full swing, I moved to Silicon Valley and have been a part of numerous innovation cycles over the past 25 years.
When I joined healthcare cybersecurity company Medigate as its first CFO, it was clear that Medigate’s founders and early employees had listened intently to target customers and methodically designed the product with customer priorities in mind. Medigate’s approach helped spur the company’s rapid growth and eventual acquisition, and serves as a great example of product success leading to company success.
I’ve been fortunate to work with and learn from great mentors and colleagues across the venture capital and startup ecosystem. Early in my career, I worked as an early-stage investor at two boutique venture firms. Later, I served as a limited partner across numerous venture funds, and also worked as an operating executive at several venture-backed enterprise startups.
I have experienced the venture capital/startup relationship from a variety of perspectives and have enormous empathy for the journey taken by company builders. My experience has also helped me recognize factors that frequently contribute to successful outcomes, which I now leverage to support the N47 portfolio.
